FOLSS - folss@outlook.com

FOLSS (Friends of Little Sutton School) is an organisation ran voluntarily by parents and teachers. Set up in 1993 it received charity status the following year. It is similar to a P.T.A., but we are an Association governed by a Constitution.

The principal objective of FOLSS is to raise funds to purchase equipment to further enhance the educational needs of the pupils whilst promoting the family ethos of school community. We also facilitate fund raising for other charities such as Children in Need and McMillan Cancer Support.

Money-raising events are organised for the children and their families to participate in. They include summer fairs, BBQs, family bingo nights, wine tasting, cookery lessons, Mothers' Day shop and community Christmas singing events. In recent years the children have designed their own Christmas cards to sell. We also raise money through school uniform sales.

We have helped raise funds for the outdoor classroom 'Bugs Wood' and donated money to the school Gardening Club, new staging and lighting, PA system, projector in the school hall and installed drinking water fountains. We have helped fund a music workshop, junior chef workshop, discos, Christmas parties and entertainers.

Another way of raising money is through match funding at your place of work. For very little effort you may be able to help your child's school - please ask your employer. In the past we have received funding from parents who work at MBNA, HBOS and Shell.

We also do extra little things that parents appreciate, such as organising discos for the children, subsidising school trips, providing ice pops at sports day, treats at Christmas and gifts for Year 6 leavers.

For those involved with FOLSS it has become a great way to meet other parents and make new friends, as well as helping your child's school. So, whilst your child attends Little Sutton C. of E. Primary School, we ask that you give FOLSS your support in any way you can.

AGM: Each September at the Annual General Meeting we set out our plans for fundraising activities. All parents/carers are invited to join us and subsequent meetings throughout the year. We rely on parent volunteers to help make all our events a success. We look forward to meeting you. Thank you.
